A lot of information is available through our subscription databases. When searching these databases, think about the search term you use. Try spiritual, "gospel music," <slavery music> or the name of any other music style you are looking for: jazz, reggae, blues, etc. If one search term isn't working, try using a synonym. These databases will be most helpful:
Encyclopedia Britannica, Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus. Includes World Data Analyst: one page statistical info on individual countries, plus the ability to compare statistics of two countries and to generate ranked statistics on a variety of topics.
World Book Encyclopedia
General purpose encyclopedia, including reference overviews, primary sources, and multimedia. Also available in Spanish and French.
